Peace and Transformation: A Journey Through the Territories of Grassroots Politics
Abstract
This review examines the book Journey through the Planet of Peace, edited by Mario López-Martínez, Diego Checa Hidalgo and Violeta Caballero Caballero, scholars from the Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Granada (Spain), an institution that has maintained close academic ties with several Colombian universities for more than twentyfive years. The review discusses the book’s main contributions, emphasizing its understanding of peace as a process of social transformation, democratic participation, social justice, and resistance to different forms of structural, cultural, and direct violence.
